9 Natural Stress Reducers

The end of 2013 is near.  The holiday season is a busy, fun and festive time of shopping, cooking, eating, celebrations … But at the same time, the added demand during this season can be stressful time of year.

So just for a moment, we invite you to slow down a bit.  These natural mood boosters may help you recharge and de-stress even during this action-packed time of the year.

Take a brisk walk: Simply changing your environment by taking a brisk walk can do wonders for your state of mind.  It will help more energy-boosting oxygen to circulate; more energy for physical and mental activities overall.

Eat breakfast:  Sounds simple, but it is the most important meal of the day.  Eating good breakfast will give you nutrients you need to get through the day, and helps your mood and blood sugar level to stay steady – more energy and less ups and downs!

Take time for yourself:  It is important to set a time to do something relaxing for your physical and mental wellness.   Do something for yourself that calms you down and rejuvenate as many people tend to forget taking self-time off in the busy season.

Drink water:  When you are dehydrated, you feel fatigued and become sluggish.  Proper hydration is necessary for the breakdown and usage of nutrients, which is essential for energy production for the body.

Take deep breaths: Deep breathing increases blood-to-brain oxygen which helps you calm down and relax.

Take a warm bath:  Taking a hot bath can stimulate blood circulation, calm your nervous system, relax your muscles, and even help you fall asleep.

Exercise regularly:  Exercise releases endorphins (the brain’s feel-good chemicals), and regular exercise builds up your stress immunity.  Find the one you can enjoy and is convenient for you so that you will most likely stay with it.

Get enough sleep:  Go to bed a little earlier for a few nights.  Sleep restores energy to both body and mind, helping us cope better with stress.  When you’re overly tired, you tend to crave things that usually aren’t very good for you.

Get a massage or an adjustment (or both):  Massage session and/or chiropractic adjustment are sure to put your stresses at ease!  Relieving tensions and improving nerve function can make a significant positive impact on your mental and physical function of your life.

Happy Holidays!
